Compatibility / Fitment Guide
Use when: a compatible mechanical steering cable must be clamped to the transom or gunnel because the outboard has no standard tilt tube, the tilt tube cannot be used, or the cable approach angle requires a swivelling support. Position the steering cable at half stroke before locating the bracket, as specified in the S39 installation instructions.
Required checks: cable end/nut geometry, available swing through full port/starboard travel, transom strength, bracket clearance and the correct drag-link/clevis connection to the engine tiller arm. Ultraflex M58/M66 and equivalent cables may use this style of support only when their end fitting matches the S39 system. Do not assume compatibility from cable length or engine horsepower alone.
Not for: hydraulic hoses/cylinders, rack cables, or a through-tilt-tube installation that already uses the engine’s specified support arrangement.
