Returns & Refunds Policy
Return Window
We offer a 30-day return policy from the date you receive your item.
- Consumer statutory rights: If you purchased as a consumer, you also have a 14-day right to cancel under the UK Consumer Contracts Regulations (CCR). This policy does not affect those rights.
Eligibility
To be eligible for a return, the item must be:
- In the same condition you received it
- Unused and unworn, with all tags attached
- In its original packaging, with all accessories and manuals
- Accompanied by a receipt or proof of purchase
Special note for inflatable boats/dinghies: items must be unused, uninflated, and not launched on water. Evidence of inflation/use may void eligibility or incur a deduction for diminished value.
How to Start a Return (RMA Required)
Email office@4boats.co.uk to request a Return Merchandise Authorisation (RMA) within the applicable window. Returns sent without an RMA may be refused.
Once your return is accepted, we’ll send packing/collection instructions and the correct return address. Do not ship until you receive the RMA, as some items must go back to a supplier warehouse.

Some items (especially bulky or drop-shipped items) must be returned directly to the manufacturer/distributor. We will confirm the correct address with your RMA.
Damaged, Defective or Incorrect Items
Please inspect your order upon delivery and contact us within 48 hours if it is damaged, defective, or incorrect. We will arrange a free return or exchange and cover return shipping. No restocking fee applies to approved cases of damage/defect/mis-pick.
Change of Mind / Customer Remorse
- Within 14 days (consumers): You may cancel under the CCR. You are responsible for the cost of return shipping (we can arrange a paid collection on request). No restocking fee will be charged for a compliant cancellation, but deductions may be made for any loss in value resulting from handling beyond what is necessary to establish the nature, characteristics and functioning of the goods.
- Day 15–30 goodwill window (consumers): Returns are accepted at our discretion. Return shipping is your responsibility. Restocking fees may apply (see “Bulky Items & Supplier Fees”).
- B2B / trade orders: Returns are subject to approval. If accepted, you are responsible for return shipping and any supplier restocking fees (see below).
Bulky Items & Supplier Fees (e.g. Dinghies)
Certain oversized/bulky items (for example, inflatable dinghies) are collected and processed by the supplier. In these cases, the supplier may charge collection and restocking fees which are payable in advance or deducted from the refund.
- Typical supplier charges: Collection from £50 + VAT and restocking from £100 + VAT (actual amounts confirmed at RMA).
- If you prefer, you may arrange your own insured return to the supplier’s nominated warehouse (where allowed) to avoid a collection fee; the restocking fee may still apply.
- Fees are set by the supplier/manufacturer and reflect inspection, repacking, and logistics for bulky goods.
Packaging & Condition Requirements
- Use the original packaging and internal protection. Items must be clean, dry and well-protected.
- Include all parts, manuals and accessories. Missing items may reduce your refund.
- We recommend insured, trackable shipping. Risk of loss/damage remains with you until received and checked.
Non-Returnable Items
- Perishable goods (e.g. food, plants)
- Custom or personalised items
- Health and personal care products once unsealed
- Hazardous materials, flammable liquids or gases
- Gift cards or items sold as “final sale”
Exchanges
For fastest service, return the unwanted item (following the RMA process) and place a new order. Once the return is inspected and approved, we’ll refund your original payment (minus any agreed supplier fees where applicable).
Refunds & Deductions
- After inspection, we’ll email you to confirm approval and any applicable deductions (e.g., supplier restocking, arranged collection, missing parts, or diminished value due to handling).
- If approved, refunds are issued to your original payment method within 10 business days. Your bank/card issuer may take additional time to process.
- If 15 business days have passed since refund approval and you have not received funds, please contact office@4boats.co.uk.
