Overview
Aftermarket 12V reversible power trim and tilt motor for selected Mercury and Mariner outboards from the mid-1980s to early 1990s. It is a two-wire, three-bolt replacement design intended to restore hydraulic pump operation when the original electric motor has failed.

Confirm engine model, serial number, original motor reference, two- or three-wire architecture, three-bolt flange, shaft drive and connector style. Not every Mercury or Mariner engine within the horsepower/year range uses the same trim motor.
Installation, checks and package contents
- Included: one 12V two-wire trim motor and O-ring where supplied. Pump, reservoir, relays, harness and hydraulic fluid are not included unless expressly shown.
- Disconnect the battery, support the outboard securely and relieve hydraulic pressure before removal.
- If replacing an original three-wire motor, the trim system must have the correct two-relay reversing circuit; do not connect it as a direct three-wire substitute.
- Inspect the hydraulic pump drive, mating face, cable routing, relays and earth connections before fitting.
- Fit a new seal, refill with the manufacturer-specified fluid, bleed the system and test full up/down travel while checking for leaks and abnormal current draw.

No. The original motor reference, flange, shaft drive, wiring and trim-pump assembly must all match.
Q2. Can it replace a three-wire motor?
Only when the boat has or receives the correct two-relay polarity-reversing conversion. It is not a direct wire-for-wire replacement.
