Yamaha 25–40HP Starter Motor

12V | 0.6kW | 11-tooth | Counter-clockwise

A new aftermarket permanent-magnet direct-drive starter for selected Yamaha-built two-cylinder two-stroke outboards. It is configured for 12V operation, counter-clockwise rotation and an 11-tooth pinion, replacing Yamaha 689-81800-11/-12/-13 and equivalent Hitachi S108-80 family references.

FITMENT REQUIRES ALL IDENTIFIERS: Match the original part number, 12V voltage, CCW rotation, 11-tooth pinion, mounting pattern and complete engine model/year. Horsepower alone is not enough.

Key Features

  • Aftermarket replacement: New unit; not a Yamaha Genuine Part.
  • PMDD design: Permanent-magnet direct-drive starter.
  • 11-tooth drive: Must match the original flywheel/starter engagement.
  • CCW rotation: Counter-clockwise as viewed under the starter convention used by the supplier.
  • Broad cross-reference: Yamaha, Hitachi, Sierra, ARCO, API, Arrowhead and WAI numbers listed below.

Technical Specs

Voltage 12V DC
Power 0.6kW
Starter type PMDD
Rotation Counter-clockwise (CCW)
Pinion 11 teeth

Frequently Asked Questions

Will it fit every Yamaha 25–40HP engine?
No. Match the exact model/year and all electrical/mechanical specifications.

Is it a genuine Yamaha starter?
No. It is a new aftermarket replacement.

How many teeth does the pinion have?
Eleven.

What should be checked before installation?
Battery condition, cable voltage drop, solenoid operation, engine ground, flywheel ring gear and the cause of the original starter failure.

Can it convert a manual-start engine to electric start?
A starter alone is not a complete conversion kit. The engine must have the correct flywheel/ring gear, bracket, wiring, solenoid, charging and control components.

Disconnect the battery before work. Use the engine manual for installation torque and cable routing, and confirm correct engagement before extended cranking.

For the products under £150 the shipping is £6.99.
