- Size the controller, fuse, isolator and cable for the panel voltage, current and cable run.
- Confirm controller compatibility with the battery chemistry (flooded lead-acid, AGM, gel or lithium).
- Mount where shading from rails, masts, antennas and covers is minimised; allow ventilation behind the panel and use a secure mounting suitable for wind and vessel movement.
- Use sealed marine cable entries and protect wiring against abrasion and UV.
- Panel revisions exist; confirm physical dimensions against the label before replacing an existing panel.
