SEAFLO BPS2001 Float Switch
Automatic bilge-pump control | 12V and 24V DC
A mercury-free surface-mount float switch for automatically controlling a separate bilge pump. The BPS2001 closes the pump circuit as the water level rises to approximately 51mm and opens it again as the level falls to approximately 19mm.
Key Features
- Automatic operation: Starts and stops a separate compatible pump as water level changes.
- Mercury-free: Mechanical switching design for marine bilges.
- Fresh and sea water: Catalogued for both environments.
- Defined switching levels: ON at 51mm and OFF at 19mm.
- Pre-wired: 1m of 18AWG cable.

Compatibility / Fitment Guide
| Direct control | Compatible 12V pumps drawing no more than 20A or 24V pumps drawing no more than 10A, subject to the pump maker's start-current specification. |
| Relay control | Use an appropriately rated relay/contact arrangement where pump current exceeds the switch rating or where the installation standard requires it. |
| Mounting | Install on a level surface where the float can move freely, below the desired alarm level and clear of wiring, hoses and debris. |
It is not restricted to one SEAFLO pump model; electrical rating, voltage and physical layout determine compatibility.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does the switch contain mercury?
No. It is described as mercury-free.
Can it switch a 20A pump on 24V?
No. The stated limit is 10A at 24V; 20A applies at 12V.
Will it work with another pump brand?
Potentially, because it is a separate electrical switch. Confirm voltage, current, wiring and physical installation.
Does it make the pump fully fail-safe?
No. The float, pump, wiring, battery and outlet can all fail or become blocked, so the bilge system requires regular testing and inspection.
Install a correctly rated fuse close to the power source. Test automatic and manual operation after installation and before every trip; keep the float path clean.
