A complete single-station mechanical rotary steering kit for one outboard engine rated up to 55HP.
Supplied with a Multiflex H2 Lite 55 reduction steering helm, a fixed-length 11ft (3.35m) SC-18-11 steering cable, B3B bezel kit and a W1B Alpha black steering wheel. Measure your cable route before ordering – steering cables cannot be shortened.

Compatibility
- System: Multiflex MS2 Lite 55 reduction single-station mechanical rotary steering for one outboard, rated by Multiflex up to 55HP.
- Engine connection: requires a compatible tilt-tube or transom mounting arrangement and the correct engine-specific link arm (not included).
- Selection limits: do not exceed the boat rating or the 55HP system rating. Hull, top speed, engine torque and steering load must also be suitable – horsepower alone does not confirm fitment.
How to measure the steering cable
Measure the cable route in centimetres with the engine centred:
- A: centre of the steering wheel/helm to the gunwale (or deck if the cable runs downwards).
- B: along the route from the console/dash to the transom.
- C: gunwale to the centre of the cable connection on the engine.
- Add A + B + C and subtract 10cm for every 90° bend.
- Tilt-tube mounting: add 30.5cm. Transom-support or splashwell mounting: do not add.
- Divide by 30.5 to convert to feet and always round up to the next whole foot.
Example: A = 100cm, B = 200cm, C = 60cm with two 90° bends = 340cm. Tilt-tube: 370.5 ÷ 30.5 = 12.15 → 13ft. Transom/splashwell: 340 ÷ 30.5 = 11.15 → 12ft.
Replacing an existing cable? In SC-18-XX on the cable jacket, XX is the length in feet.
Installation and safety notes
- Keep bends to a minimum and never route tighter than the 8" (200mm) minimum bend radius.
- Check free movement from full port to full starboard without binding or stretching the cable.
- Mechanical steering components are not repairable – replace any cable that is damaged, stiff, corroded or has reduced travel.
- Installation and final safety checks should be carried out by a suitably qualified marine technician.
Questions & Answers
Does the kit include a steering wheel?
Yes – the Multiflex W1B Alpha black 350mm three-spoke wheel with integral hub, fitting the standard 3/4" tapered helm shaft.
Is the engine link arm included?
No. Choose the correct engine-specific link arm and mounting hardware separately if required.
Can the 11ft cable be shortened?
No. Mechanical steering cables are sealed, fixed-length components and must not be cut or modified.
My measurement falls between two sizes – which should I order?
Always round up to the next whole foot. A cable that is too short can bind or restrict engine movement.
Is this a hydraulic system?
No. This is a mechanical rotary helm-and-cable system.
