Compatibility checks
- Confirm there is sufficient straight, unobstructed clamping area above the anti-ventilation plate.
- Check the rudder cannot touch the propeller, trim tab, water intakes, transom, hull or steering components through the full steering and tilt range.
- Measure the engine-leg profile and compare it with the product images before ordering.
- Not suitable for engines whose leg shape prevents secure and level clamping.
- Use only at displacement and manoeuvring speeds; it is not designed for high-speed planing operation.
Fitting and use
- Position the two halves evenly around the leg and tighten the fasteners progressively.
- Do not drill, grind or modify the outboard casing.
- Turn the steering fully from lock to lock and operate trim/tilt carefully to confirm clearance.
- Recheck fastener security after the first use and at regular service intervals.
- Remove the rudder if there is vibration, movement, contact or any sign of unsafe loading.
