ACR ResQLink 410 RLS – Buoyant 406 MHz Personal Locator Beacon

A compact, manually activated Personal Locator Beacon for boaters and outdoor users. It transmits a satellite distress alert with GNSS position data and uses Return Link Service to provide visual confirmation that the alert has been received and the location detected.

Suitable Applications

  • Coastal and offshore sailing, motorboating, RIB use and commercial marine work.
  • Fishing, kayaking, canoeing, paddleboarding and remote-water activities.
  • Hiking, climbing, skiing, off-road travel and expeditions beyond reliable mobile coverage.
  • Personal carriage on any size of craft as an additional distress-alerting device.

How the Rescue Signalling Works

  • 406 MHz distress transmission: sends the encoded alert through the Cospas-Sarsat satellite system.
  • GPS and Galileo GNSS: supplies position data to help rescuers locate the casualty.
  • 121.5 MHz homing signal: assists rescue teams during the final approach.
  • Return Link Service: a flashing blue light confirms that the distress message has been received and the location detected.
  • Visible and infrared strobes: improve detection at night and in poor visibility.
  • No subscription: no recurring service fee is required, but beacon registration is essential.

Registration, Coding and Service

Register the beacon before use with the national 406 MHz beacon authority for the owner’s country. Check that the country coding/UIN on the beacon is suitable for the intended registration authority.

Check the battery-expiry/service label on receipt and before every trip. Battery replacement and post-activation servicing must be completed by an ACR-authorised service centre; the sealed battery is not user replaceable.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does the blue flashing light mean?
It is the Return Link Service indication that the distress message has been received and the beacon’s location detected. It is not a message that a rescue team has already arrived or an estimate of arrival time.

Does it require a subscription?
No recurring subscription is required. The beacon must nevertheless be correctly coded and registered to its owner.

Does it activate automatically in water?
No. The ResQLink 410 RLS is manually activated.

Does it float?
Yes, the unit has built-in buoyancy. For effective transmission, keep it secured and positioned with the antenna upright and a clear view of the sky.

Is it a replacement for a vessel EPIRB?
No. It is a personal beacon and should be carried as part of a complete, regulation-appropriate safety setup. Vessel requirements vary by craft, operating area and flag state.

Can I replace the battery myself?
No. Battery replacement and full functional testing must be performed by an ACR-authorised service centre.
