How do I know if I have Gen I or Gen II controls?
Gen I cables have a large barrel-shaped stopper at the control end. Gen II cables (used on newer 4000/5000 series boxes) do not have this barrel and use a different attachment method. Please verify your current cable ends before ordering.
Does this cable fit 40 HP and lower models?
It fits most Mercury/Mariner models using Gen I controls, except for certain pre-1993 40 HP and lower models that may require a specialized small-end cable.
