Starter motor for Yamaha F200, F225 and selected F250 3.3L V6 outboards

A 12V replacement starter for selected Yamaha 3.3-litre V6 four-stroke outboards. The unit uses counter-clockwise rotation and a 13-tooth pinion and also cross-references selected Mercury 225HP EFI four-stroke installations based on the Yamaha platform.

Best used for: starting-system repairs on offshore boats, RIBs, fishing boats and sports cruisers equipped with a compatible Yamaha 3.3L V6 four-stroke outboard.

  • Yamaha F200 and LF200 3.3L V6 four-stroke: selected 2002-2011 applications.
  • Yamaha F225 and LF225 3.3L V6 four-stroke: selected 2002-2011 applications.
  • Selected Yamaha F250/LF250 3.3L models, typically 2002-2009, only when the original 69J-series starter reference matches.
  • Selected Mercury 225HP EFI four-stroke Yamaha-based applications, typically 2003-2006, when the Mercury OEM reference and full configuration match.
  • Not for later 4.2L Yamaha V6 engines or unrelated 200-250HP platforms.

Compatibility rule: model and horsepower are not sufficient on their own. Confirm the engine year/serial range, electrical specification, pinion, rotation, mounting points and an OEM reference before ordering.

Before fitting: isolate the battery, photograph and label the cables, compare the old and new units side by side, inspect the flywheel ring gear and clean the electrical connections.

Installation: use the engine manufacturer's torque procedure and reconnect cables with clean, tight terminals. Professional installation is recommended for marine starting systems.

Package contents: one new replacement starter motor. Mounting hardware and cables are not included unless visible and explicitly stated.

Frequently asked questions

Will this fit a Yamaha F250?

Only selected 3.3L F250/LF250 models using the 69J-series starter. It does not fit every F250 generation.

Does it fit Yamaha 4.2L V6 outboards?

No. This listing is for the earlier compatible 3.3L V6 platform.

What should I verify before ordering?

Confirm engine model, year and serial, original OEM reference, 12V CCW operation, 13-tooth pinion, mounting points and terminals.

Can it replace the starter on a Mercury 225HP four-stroke?

Only on selected Yamaha-based Mercury applications using a listed Mercury reference and the identical mechanical configuration.
