BEP 600-GD Gas Detector
LPG / Petrol / CNG Vapour Alarm | One 5m Sensor | 10–32V DC
The BEP 600-GD is a microprocessor-controlled combustible-gas alarm for marine 12V or 24V systems. It provides audible and visual warning, self-test, and outputs for an external alarm or bilge blower. One remote sensor with a 5m lead is supplied; a second sensor can be added.
Key Features
- ✔ Detects LPG, petrol vapour and CNG with compatible sensor placement
- ✔ Visual and audible alarm at 20% of lower explosive limit
- ✔ Supports up to two remote sensors
- ✔ Self-test function
- ✔ External alarm and bilge-blower output

Compatibility / Fitment Guide
| Check | Required specification | Decision |
|---|---|---|
| Supply | 12V or 24V DC system operating within 10–32V | Use a correctly protected feed and observe polarity. |
| Gas risk | LPG, petrol vapour or CNG | Sensor height/location must suit the gas: LPG and petrol vapours collect low; CNG rises. |
| Sensor count | One sensor supplied; second optional | Use two correctly positioned sensors when one point cannot cover all hazard zones. |
| Outputs | Remote alarm or bilge blower load within 800mA output limit | Use an interposing relay when the connected device exceeds the output rating. |
| System role | Early combustible-gas warning | Retain proper ventilation, fuel/gas shut-off procedures and independent required safety equipment. |
Not suitable for: carbon monoxide or smoke detection, direct gas-solenoid control, submerged/wet sensor placement, or treating the alarm as a replacement for ventilation and periodic gas-system inspection.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does it shut off the LPG valve?
No. Model 600-GD has alarm/blower outputs but not the GDL Pulse & Hold solenoid control.
How many sensors are included?
One sensor with a 5m lead; the unit can accept a second sensor.
Does it detect carbon monoxide?
No. It is a combustible-gas/vapour detector, not a CO alarm.
Where should the sensor be fitted?
Placement depends on the hazard: LPG and petrol vapours settle low, while CNG rises. Follow the BEP instructions.
Before ordering: Identify the gas hazard, choose sensor positions, check the 10–32V feed and verify any external-alarm or blower current.
