Compatibility / Fitment Guide
Important: this is a complete boat-mounted separator assembly, not an engine-mounted service filter. Mercury 35-809097, Quicksilver 35-8M0146203 and Sierra 18-7919 identify the compatible 11/16-16 spin-on element family. Those references do not, by themselves, confirm that the supplied head, mounting bracket and hose fittings will suit a particular boat.
Use one of these two fitment routes:
- Replacing an existing complete separator: compare the old assembly's filter reference, 11/16-16 element thread, sealing face, 3/8in NPT head ports, 10mm fuel-hose size, mounting-hole position and available clearance.
- Adding a separator to a boat: confirm a petrol outboard installation above deck, adequate fuel-flow capacity for the engine, 10mm fuel hose or approved adaptors, a safe upright mounting point and sufficient service clearance.
| Mercury catalogue family | Serial range / year | What this confirms |
|---|---|---|
| 35 EFI Jet; 40 EFI 4-cylinder; 40 EFI Jet; 40 EFI SeaPro; 50 EFI; 60 EFI; 60 EFI SeaPro | 1C453840 and up | Sierra catalogues the 18-7919 / 35-809097 element family. Check the boat's external fuel system separately. |
| 65 Jet FourStroke; 75 EFI; 75 EFI SeaPro; 80 EFI; 80 Jet FourStroke; 90 EFI; 90 EFI SeaPro; 100 EFI; 115 EFI; 115 EFI SeaPro |
2B095049 and up 100 EFI also catalogued as 2008-up |
Match the serial plate, not horsepower alone. This is an external separator, not the under-cowl filter. |
| 115 Pro XS FourStroke | 2B225488 and up | Element-family match only; verify hose size, flow demand and mounting location. |
| 135 EFI FourStroke | 2B131942 and up | Petrol application. Do not use this clear-bowl kit for diesel. |
| 150 FourStroke | 1B905505 and up | Confirm the complete fuel system can accept the kit's 3/8in NPT ports and 10mm hose barbs. |
| 150 SeaPro | 2B139139 and up | Allow room below the head to inspect, drain and remove the clear bowl and element. |
Exact installation interfaces supplied with this kit:
- Head ports: 3/8in NPT; two threaded blanking plugs are supplied.
- Fuel-hose connections: two 3/8in NPT x 10mm hose barbs and two stainless-steel clamps.
- Replacement-element interface: 11/16-16 centre thread; use only an element and sealing face made for this family.
- Envelope: approximately 230 x 110 x 105mm. Mount upright and leave additional space below for drainage and servicing.
- Flow direction: connect inlet and outlet according to the arrows/markings moulded into the filter head; do not infer direction from bracket orientation.
Explicit exclusions: not for diesel; not for an engine's under-cowl cartridge filter; not for heads using 1in-14, 3/4in-16 or another centre thread; and not automatically compatible with MerCruiser/inboard installations simply because 35-809097 appears in a filter cross-reference.
Clear-bowl location restriction: use for outboard/above-deck installations only. Sierra specifies a flame-resistant metal collection bowl below deck. Do not fit this transparent-bowl assembly in an enclosed engine compartment or any location where regulations require a metal bowl.
Final check before ordering: record the engine model and serial number, then compare the existing element reference (if fitted), port and hose sizes, required fuel flow, mounting space and installation location. A matching horsepower or Mercury badge alone is not a fitment test.
