Do not use the BF badge alone. Confirm the frame/serial number, original reference and 13-tooth gear.
Installation and pre-fit checks
- Disconnect and isolate the battery before removal.
- Compare voltage, tooth count, rotation convention, flange, nose length and terminal position with the original starter.
- Load-test the battery and check positive and earth-cable voltage drop, solenoid output and flywheel ring-gear condition.
- Clean the mounting face and tighten bolts and cable terminals to the engine manufacturer's specification.
- Confirm smooth engagement and immediate disengagement. Avoid prolonged or repeated continuous cranking.
Frequently asked questions
Q1. Will it fit a 2008 or newer BF90?
Generally no. Later Honda designs often use a different 9-tooth starter; verify the serial and original reference.
Q2. Does it fit every BF75-BF130 made before 2006?
No. Match the complete model, frame/serial number, original reference and 13-tooth pinion.
Q3. Is the solenoid included?
The package contains the starter motor only unless a solenoid is expressly shown and listed.
Q4. Why check the battery and cables first?
Low voltage or excessive cable resistance can imitate starter failure and can overheat a replacement unit.
