How do I know if it is compatible?
If your gearcase uses the standard 3/8-16 fill/drain plug (common on most US-built Mercury and MerCruiser units), this is the correct seal. Please cross-reference your original part number against 26-830749.
Why should I replace these seals every time I check my gear oil?
These seals are designed to compress slightly when torqued to create a watertight fit. Once compressed, they lose their ability to provide a 100% seal if reused, which can lead to water ingress into your gear lube.
