Compatibility and selection
- Measure the actual battery case, terminals and cable clearances; amp-hour rating alone does not guarantee fit.
- The battery type, charging profile and ventilation requirements must suit the intended enclosed installation.
- All connected loads together must remain within the rating of each socket, connector, fuse and cable.
- The 50A connector does not make every load suitable for 50A continuous operation; follow the connector and box instructions.
- Do not place where bilge water, fuel vapour, extreme heat or mechanical impact can damage the battery or connections.
Installation, use and package contents
- Secure the box against movement, capsize and impact using a suitable tray or straps.
- Fit correctly rated fuses close to the battery positive terminal for every outgoing circuit.
- Maintain correct polarity and use tinned cable sized for current, cable length and acceptable voltage drop.
- Provide ventilation appropriate to the selected battery chemistry and charging regime.
- Disconnect loads before opening, inspect terminals regularly and follow the battery manufacturer's safety instructions.
