Is this a genuine original part?

How do I know if I need a Gen I or Gen II cable?
Gen II cables use a slotted connection with a screw-style retainer at the control box. Gen I cables typically feature a barrel-shaped stopper. This cable is for Gen II (4000 series) controls only.
Can I use this on older Mercury engines?
While the engine end of Gen I and Gen II cables is often the same, the control box end is different. If your control box is a newer Gen II/4000 series, this cable will work regardless of engine age, provided it uses standard Mercury cable connections.
Note: Always measure your existing cable or the required path before ordering. For outboard installations, it is recommended to add 18 inches to the measured length to account for motor movement. 4boats.co.uk
