Pro Reg BW 12V waterproof advanced alternator regulator for 12V systems — recommended for alternators under 150 A; for larger alternators see Pro Reg D (PDAR).
- Actual device rating: Positive field control 8 A maximum; Negative field control 13 A maximum.
- Amperage guidance: As a stand-alone regulator: recommended up to approx. 150 A. When used in parallel with the original/standard regulator: supports alternators up to approx. 350 A (more with negative field control).
- Digital software control with slow-start: dynamic progressive battery charging with programmable modes for different battery types; constant-current multi-step charging curves for optimal charging and de-sulphation of lead-acid batteries.
- This unit can be used as a stand-alone regulator or in parallel with the original regulator; it auto-returns to the standard regulator on failure and isolates the advanced regulator in a fault condition to protect batteries and cabling.
- Self-diagnosing: system scans every 2 s; 8-LED status display provides clear information to the operator.
- Trips and protection: high alternator voltage trip (common trip to protect wiring/alternator on poor wiring or incorrect installation); high battery voltage trip (switches/isolates regulator to protect batteries if voltage exceeds safe limits); high battery temperature trip (reduces or halts charging to protect the battery).
- Temperature sensor behavior: supplied with one battery temperature sensor and 1 m cable. If the temperature sensor is open-circuited or not fitted, the unit defaults to a safe fixed charging profile with reduced voltage/current limits, continues charging in a conservative mode to protect batteries, and signals the condition via the LED status display — fitting the sensor is recommended for optimal regulation.
- Size 120 × 80 × 45 mm (4.72 × 3.15 × 1.77 in); weight 0.4 kg (0.88 lb). Single unit fits ~99% of alternators.
- Protects batteries and cabling, supports constant-current multi-step charging curves, helps de-sulphation of lead-acid batteries and can operate with or without temperature sensing.
