ACR's GlobalFix V6 Emergency Position Indicator Radio Beacon (EPIRB) is a state-of-the-art device designed to increase safety and peace of mind for mariners worldwide. Utilizing 406 MHz satellite connectivity, this EPIRB transmits emergency signals to the global Cospas Sarsat satellite rescue system, ensuring worldwide coverage for emergency distress calls. The GlobalFix V6 harnesses GNSS (GPS, Galileo, Glonass) positioning networks to accurately derive its location anywhere in the world. When activated, the EPIRB’s 406 MHz signal relays the GPS EPIRB (GPIRB) position, with accuracy within 100 meters, to the Cospas Sarsat search and rescue satellite network, which then triggers rescue operations by relaying identifiers and position information to ground stations.

In addition to the primary 406 MHz satellite signal, the GlobalFix V6 also transmits a 121.5 MHz homing signal to aid rescuers in locating the device once they arrive at the search area. This dual-frequency functionality is particularly useful if the beacon has drifted from its initial position. The visual and infrared strobe enhances visibility, further speeding up rescue response times by allowing rescuers to pinpoint the beacon's exact location.

For added convenience and safety, users can access ACR's FREE smartphone app, which provides diagnostics for the EPIRB via Near Field Communication (NFC). Simply place a smartphone near the GlobalFix V6, and the ACR Product App opens, offering data on the beacon’s current battery life, GNSS self-test results, time in use, and details of previous GNSS tests, including map views, satellite count, and fix accuracy. This functionality allows routine checks on all EPIRB functions, ensuring it’s always ready for an emergency.
