Replacement zinc rod anode for Mercury Verado outboards, OEM ref 8M00-12083. Sacrificial anode designed to protect the lower unit from galvanic corrosion in salt water.
- Material: Zinc alloy — intended primarily for saltwater use. For brackish conditions consider aluminum anodes; for freshwater consider magnesium anodes.
- OEM reference: 8M00-12083
- Compatibility: Mercury Verado outboards — verify fit by comparing length, diameter and thread pattern to your existing anode or OEM part number; contact support if you need help confirming compatibility with specific Verado series/years.
- Installation location: lower unit; replaces the rod-style sacrificial anode on compatible Verado gearcases.
- Installation notes: ensure clean metal-to-metal contact between the anode and mating surface. Do not apply dielectric grease to contact surfaces. Apply marine anti-seize to threads only if recommended by Mercury and avoid insulating the electrical contact area. Follow the Mercury service manual for specified torque.
- Maintenance: inspect each season and replace when more than 50% worn or per manufacturer's recommendation.
