The Victron Energy VDI-16 is a passive galvanic isolator for 230 V shore power that uses two anti-parallel diodes to block electrolytic currents until a fault voltage appears.

Designed for installation directly behind the boat's 230 V shore inlet
Forward voltage exceeds typical metal-to-metal potential differences, preventing electrolytic current
Allows conduction only on higher fault voltages so the residual-current device (RCD) can trip
Passive, maintenance‑free component-no external power required
Reduces risk of galvanic corrosion on marine AC systems
Should be fitted by a qualified electrician for safe operation
